Showcasing Tableau Pass Map

Tableau is an excellent way of presenting large data sets into meaningful and visually appealing work. There are lots of functions for it but this time I have chosen to produce a pass map of all players from the UCL Final between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

The benefits of using it rather than hand drawing pass maps on EXCEL is it eliminates inaccuracies of the analyst's observations on where the actions took place. Tableau uses coordinates to pinpoint areas that the actions took place. You can also add labels with who passed to who etc which adds more meaningful objective information without the display looking cluttered.

This objective data can supplement the coaching process with video clips added to each instance. This would allow coaches to offer feedback to players on what decision would be better. It can also be compared to previous performances, future performances, and rival players in their position.

This work is made solely for educational purposes and is not associated with any club or company. If you have any questions or constructive feedback I would love to hear it.
